Ohio unemployment back up to 8.8%

Ohio?s unemployment rate increased in June for the first time in nearly two years to hit 8.8 percent, the state Department of Job and Family Services reported Friday. The state?s unemployment rate grew from 8.6 percent in May. The jobless rate has fallen or held steady since September 2009, when unemployment stood at 10.6 percent. The increase in the jobless rate came as nonfarm payroll grew by 10,600 jobs to 5.1 million from 5.09 million in May, a downwardly revised tally. The ranks of those out of work and actively seeking a job grew by 9,000 to hit 517,000, the department said...
