Franklin Boxboard to close, 81 jobs lost

Franklin Boxboard Corp. will close its manufacturing facility in Warren County next month, eliminating 81 jobs.

General Manager Matt Sullivan said the closure is a result of changing business conditions in the paperboard industry.

"The recycled paperboard business is mature and is one the company can no longer compete in," he said.

Franklin Boxboard, located at 50 E. Sixth St. in Franklin, has been owned by New Jersey-based Newark Group since 1984. Newark Group also is closing a plant in New Jersey, according to a company press...
